Overview
The Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, a research and advisory arm affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOTEC), is an institution engaged in comprehensive social science research with a particular focus on economic and trade studies. CAITEC is a research conglomerate with a history of more than 50 years, integrating various functions including research, information analysis, training, consultancy, media, publishing and services. CAITEC was originally set up in Hong Kong in 1948 initially and named the International Economic Research Institute. In the past five decades, it has played a key role in the research field of foreign trade, economic theories and policies, as well as in consultancy and information services. CAITEC has wide and close ties with domestic and foreign academic institutions and enterprises, is staffed by 600 employees, among which the professionals make up 50 per cent and the number of commercial
diplomats dispatched abroad, several dozens.
Importance is attached to academic research on economic theories and trade policies, and to the applied research including economic data survey and market research for government departments, various organizations enterprises and economic entities. With excellent expertise and experienced research capability, CAITEC is always ready to provide its the state-of-art products and services in research, consultancy, information analysis, publishing and training.
Research areas include: world economy, international trade, international economic cooperation, finance and currency, commodity markets, FDI and its utilization, technology imports, bilateral and multilateral aid and global and regional economic and trade development, among others.
Consultancy: With a strong capacity in economic information analysis and data collection, the service in consultancy and market research is available for various domestic and overseas customers.
