Overview
The Policy Research Centre for Environment and Economy (PRCEE) of China's National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) was founded in 1991 and the Environmental Information Institute (EII) of NEPA was founded in 1986. The PRCEE and NEPA were combined in 1994 as a special centre for policy research and environmental information services. PRCEE conducts research projects in environmental and economic policy. PRCEE has cooperated and been supported by both domestic and international organizations, such as NEPA, several local environmental protection bureaus, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), UNEP and others.
PRCEE's major tasks are:
- to carry out studies on environmental policy issues;
- to conduct research on the science of environmental management;
- to carry out policy research on environmental economics;
- to provide scientific and policy advice for national environment management and comprehensive decision-making for environment and economy; and
- to provide publications and environmental information services.
